On January 11th and 12th 2017 will take place the 9th edition of Insight Shanghai the annual trend conference and workshop organized by Style-Vision Asia and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This year we are going to explore the trends that will shape the concept of wellbeing from  global and Chinese perspectives.

Theme 2017: Looking for wellbeing
Over the past decades, modernity massively introduced in China new products, new cultural influences, new technologies and new lifestyles that Chinese consumers welcomed with enthusiasm. They were eager to experience personally a modern lifestyle perceived as more enjoyable and easier. Looking for a better life and showing a great appetite for newness, they increasingly adopted new beauty routines or started practicing casual sports, drinking energetic beverages or buying air filters. Lifestyle industries tapped into the multiple opportunities of the wellbeing business and the market is far from being saturated.
At the same time, all these changes took place relatively abruptly and seem to accelerate, generating some concerns among Chinese consumers. The pressure of social competition, the environmental degradation, the possible loss of Chinese wisdom and traditions awakened existential questions about China’s growth. Nowadays, more and more consumers are looking for a better balance in their life and a significant shift toward more mindful, healthier and less materialistic sense of happiness can be observed.
The 9th edition of Insight Shanghai will focus on the search for well-being among Chinese consumers, mirroring the social, economic, aesthetics and cultural transformations of modern China.
During the conference and workshop, trend experts, industry specialists and academics will help Chinese professionals better understand the multiple dimensions of the concept and identify smart responses to emerging and diversified consumer needs.

Day 1 (conference): information, inspiration and insights on wellbeing trends from China and overseas
The first day, the conference brings exclusive insights from trend specialists, sociologists and business experts. Presentations followed by discussions will provide participants with a comprehensive vision of the evolutions of well-being in China and overseas: social evolutions, consumer insights, new business applications and design directions.
This year, the panel will gather, trend specialists, designers and business experts in interiors design, beauty & personal care, health services, packaging, colors and home appliances.

Day 2 (workshop): new business applications
The second day is the workshop day, participants, all marketing and design managers from different fields, will be split into smaller groups. They will exchange ideas, mix practices, try to understand the evolutions of well-being in Chinese consumers’ eyes. Each group will then have to imagine a new product or service inspired by the trends and relevant for their industries and their consumer segments on the China market.
